Latest photography
We don't get asked to do too much fashion photography down in this part of the world but last Friday (10th Feb 2012) was an exception. We photographed 75 outfits in a day... The workflow had to be pretty slick, get the shots, change outfit and crack on! Our model Jenya was fantastic to work with and dispite everything managed to keep smiling right through to the end. Studio photography is great because you have complete control of lighting and to be honest it's days in the studio working on different projects that I love.
I was tasked to cover the first landing on Southampton General Hospitals new £1million helicopter landing pad. Space in and around the hospital is at a premium so the helipad has been built over the multi story carpark. The proving flight (first landing) took place earlier in the day so we covered that and then as we were doing the various interviews etc a call came in and the helicopter of the Hampshire & Isle of White Air Ambulance had to go to the Isle of White to pick up a patient and bring them to the Southampton General Hospital. The image below shows the helicopter making it's first operational landing. Thankfully the weather improved significantly as the morning went on and we were blessed witha bright, clear blue sky...
A local based high tech company tasked Southampton Photographic to capture a set of images for their new web site. The company build and operate ultra-precision 3D profiling technology with up to 3 nm resolution. The majority of photographs captured depict the many different ways in which the equipment functions; internal & external measurement of both concave and convex objects such as contact lenses, artificial joints etc. In addition to the photography we also undertook some post capture image manipulation. The image below had a label removed from the blue sensor and the red plastic holder was orange when photographed.
High profile visits to UK manufacturing facilities provide excellent PR for the company and the visiting personality. Finding the right photo opportunity can sometimes be a challenge... Southampton Photographic have been covering high profile visits for many years so we have an idea of what picture editors are looking for; pictures that tell a story and engage with the reader.
Chris Huhne is very aware of the camera and can spot the potential for a good picture. Being the only photographer in attendance makes my job much easier as I can move around more freely than any press pack would be allowed to do. We captured many great images of this visit which were back with the client the following day. Besides the obvious PR element of this type of job we are also taking pictorial record for historical archiving!
